The Watershed Benefice – 2026 Wedding Fees

Parishes of Blymhill, Weston-under-Lizard, and Lapley with Wheaton Aston
Please note: The statutory fees are adjusted in January each year and local fees are adjusted too.

If your wedding is not in 2026, please only use these figures as a guide.

A: Statutory Fees (set by the Church of England)
These are the nationally-set fees for legally conducting and documenting a marriage:
Banns of Marriage – £39
The Marriage Service – £566
Sub total A – £605

B: Local Fees (set by the Parochial Church Council)
These are the locally-set fees that help to cover the church’s costs:
Heating – £60 (1)
Verger – £60 (2)
Organist – £80 (3)
Upkeep of organ – £30
Music Technician – £30 (4)
Bells (Lapley only) – £200
Typical Cost of Summer Wedding with organist £775
Suggested voluntary contribution toward the upkeep of the church £50


C: Banns of Marriage read in another church

Notes:

  1. Heating is seasonal, chargeable for the months of October to April inclusive. Heating can be provided in the summer
    months by prior agreement and at the cost outlined above.
  2. The verger is the person that gets the church ready for your wedding and clears up afterwards, looks after health and
    safety, and supports the minister practically so that they can concentrate on marrying you.
  3. This will be one of our regular Sunday organists. If you wish to provide your own musicians, please let us know asap; if the
    organ is used there will still be a charge for its upkeep.
  4. If the organ is not used but pre-recorded music is required, a charge will be made for managing this throughout the service.
  5. If you don’t live within the parish boundaries for the church in which you are getting married, your banns must be read in
    your ‘home’ parish/es too. You pay the fee directly to that/those church/es.
